Where this work stops

These are bookkeeping working papers. Deposit treatment, revenue recognition, work-in-progress accounting, worker classification and insurance adequacy are decisions for the client's CPA, tax adviser, insurer or attorney — informed by the contract, the accounting method, the reporting framework and the jurisdiction. The book marks every one of those boundaries, and so do these sheets.

All figures are illustrative composites, not recommendations. Local and state requirements — licensing, lien deadlines, prompt-payment statutes, retainage limits on public work — vary and change; check them annually rather than trusting any book, including this one.
